Sir Wilfrid Laurier Elementary School is located in the Marpole community on 57th Avenue at Laurel Street. It was named for Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the Prime Minister of Canada from 1896 to 1911.
The building has a library, a multipurpose room/cafeteria, and a gym/auditorium. There are two portable classrooms that are adjacent to the building.
An extension to the south of the main school building was constructed around 1998. This new extension was part of a project to make the school wheelchair-accessible. Part of this extension was an automatic door at the ground level, an elevator for access to ground, first, and second floors and an emergency exit from the second floor. In addition, a wheelchair lift was constructed to provide access to the gymnasium for the disabled. A new emergency exit was also constructed as part of the south extension. All of the lighting inside the school was replaced during the 2005–2006 school year in order to make the light fixtures earthquake-resistant.
There are 6 basketball hoops, a covered play-area adjacent to the school building, playground structures, six tennis courts, a new swing set and long jump pit, and finally, a gravel field on the school's property. Additionally there are several picnic tables and benches and a small garden near the playground area on what used to be the "upper gravel field".
Laurier is located to the north and south of Ideal Mini School and Churchill Secondary respectively.
